Smokey Gordon Ramsay Steak Recipe

Gordon Ramsay is famous for a few things: calling people a “stupid sandwich,” his delicious food, and his unique recipes. One such recipe is Gordon Ramsay steak. Heavy seasoning and flipping it just once is the secret to his perfect steak. He also emphasizes giving the steak the rest it deserves, you know, after the long day it had.

To make Gordon Ramsay steak, heavily season it with salt and freshly cracked pepper, then cook it for some time. You can use any cut you prefer, but I suggest New York steak. Also, use flavorless oil when cooking the steak. This keeps the oil’s flavor from overpowering the steak.

Follow the detailed instructions, ingredients, and expert tips to make the chef-style Gordon Ramsay Steak recipe right in your kitchen

Expert Tips That I Recommend

  • Dry the steaks properly, as moisture steals away the perfect crisp browning.
  • Avoid sprinkling seasoning; press it into the meat so it forms a flavorful crust during searing.
  • When you add steak to the pan, let it cook from each side without moving it too soon, as frequent turning prevents a golden crust from forming.
  • Let the mushrooms brown properly instead of just steaming. Also, dry them properly before adding them to the pan.
  • Let the steak rest for a while before slicing.

Recipe Variation for Different Diets

  • Keto Version: Use roasted cauliflower instead of potatoes.
  • Low Sodium Version: Omit salt completely from the recipe.

Storing And Reheating This Recipe

Storing

  •  First, let the recipe cool down completely. Keep the steak separate from the mushrooms and sauce to maintain the best texture. Then transfer them to different airtight containers and refrigerate for 3-4 days.
  • If you want, you can freeze it; once the recipe cools, wrap the steak in an airtight packet. It will remain fresh for up to 3 months.

Reheating

  • Stovetop: Heat the steak in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side with some butter. Heat for 10-15 minutes.
  • Oven: Preheat the oven to 120 degrees C. Cover it with a damp paper towel to help retain moisture.

What To Serve With This Recipe

Method

  • Heat a grill pan over high heat and add 1 tbsp olive oil. Brush the steak with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and let it come to room temperature.

FAQs About Gordon Ramsay Steak

What is a good way to cook steak?

Heat a skillet over high heat and sear the steaks for 3 minutes per side. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook with the lid closed until the steaks reach the desired doneness.

What is the best thing to season steak with?

When seasoning a steak, you can’t go wrong with freshly cracked black pepper and kosher salt. You can finish with salts like flaky sea salt for a final touch. Add chopped herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or sage to your salt to make flavored salt for your steak.

How do you keep a steak juicy?

Keep the meat moist with a marinade or by cooking it carefully over lower heat for a shorter time. To prevent meat from shrinking up into little wads when it cooks, cut it against the grain.

What gives steak more flavor?

Salt is a must when seasoning steak. It not only adds flavor to your meal but also helps make the steak juicy and tender. When you salt your steak before cooking, the salt sits on the meat and draws moisture to the surface. But removing this moisture doesn’t make the steak less juicy.

Why is my steak tough and dry?

Overcooking meat can make it tough. Heat changes the proteins in the meat, causing them to firm up. Overcooking also basically squeezes the moisture out of the meat, making it dry and tough.
