If you love seafood pasta, you’re probably familiar with shrimp and crab pasta. It’s an elegant recipe containing shrimp, crab meat, and pasta. With this recipe, you can easily make shrimp and crab pasta at home within 20 minutes.

Shrimp and crab pasta is my favorite seafood dish. Toss shrimp and crab with pasta in a homemade sauce, then finish with Parmesan cheese. I tried this imitation shrimp and crab pasta recipe and was amazed by how incredible it tasted. You can add more veggies and spices of your choice.

To make shrimp and crab pasta, cook the onion and garlic in a pan. Add spinach, butter, salt, basil-garlic seasoning, oregano, and red pepper to the mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Add diluted cornstarch to thicken it. Then, add cooked shrimp and crab meat and stir. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then add the pasta and stir for 1 minute. Garnish it with Parmesan cheese.

    Expert Tips That I Recommend

    • Don’t overcook the pasta. Cook it until al dente, as it continues to cook when tossed in hot sauce.
    • Be careful while cooking the shrimp, as they cook quickly. When they turn opaque and curl a little, they are cooked.
    • Do not overcook garlic as it can turn bitter.
    • Pat the shrimp dry before cooking so they don’t release excess water.
    • Avoid boiling Parmesan cheese as it can make the texture grainy.

    Recipe Variation for Different Diets

    • Keto Version: Double-check that seasonings do not have any added sugar. Also, replace regular noodles with shirataki noodles.
    • Gluten-Free Version: Instead of regular noodles, use zucchini noodles and check the packaging to see if the seasonings are gluten-free or not.

FAQs About Shrimp and Crab Pasta

How do I prevent shrimp from becoming rubbery?

Since shrimp cook quickly, don’t overcook them. Overcooking is what makes them rubbery. When they start to curl up, it means the shrimp are ready.

How do I fix it if the sauce is too thick?

If the sauce turns out too thick, add a splash of water reserved from cooking the pasta. Add it until you reach the desired sauce consistency.

Why did the cream sauce separate?

The cream sauce separates when you heat the cheese over high heat. To prevent it from separating, cook it over gentle heat so the Parmesan and cheese don’t break.

How do I prevent pasta from absorbing all the sauce?

Save some sauce to toss with the pasta before you serve. Add a splash of warm water to the pasta if needed.
